Retail sales in Indonesia grew by 4.1 percent year-on-year in June 2022, faster than a 2.9 percent rise a month earlier which was the softest pace in eight months. Sales of food beverages & tobacco accelerated (11.3% vs 7.8%), amid a rebound in sales of automotive parts & accessories (3.5% vs -1.3%). At the same time, sales rose at softer paces for both fuels (18.6% vs 39.3%) and cultural & recreational goods (5.4% vs 9.6%) while there were declines in sales of clothing (-3.8% vs -13.7%), home appliances (-27.7% vs -24.7%), and information & communication(vs -26.5% vs -12.8%). On a monthly basis, retail sales declined by 11.8 percent in June, the second straight month of drop and the steepest pace in a year, after a 2.1 percent drop in May.
