Retail sales in Switzerland increased 2.6 percent year-on-year in July of 2022, accelerating from a downwardly revised 0.7 percent gain in the previous month. It was the second straight of increase in retail sales, as sales of non-food items grew faster (4.5 percent vs 1.3 percent in June), while those of food, beverages & tobacco dropped much less (-0.9 percent vs -1.7 percent in June). On a monthly basis, retail sales went down 0.5 percent, the first monthly decline in three months, reversing from an upwardly revised 0.2 percent growth in June.
