Belgium’s industrial production fell 11.5 percent year-on-year in June of 2022, picking up from the upwardly revised 0.7 percent contraction in the previous month. It was the sharpest decline in industrial activity since April of 2020, as output fell sharply for manufacturing (-11.7 percent vs -1.3 percent), and electricity, steam, and air-conditioning supply (-6.8 percent vs -5.6 percent). On the other hand, activity fell slower for mining and quarrying (-9.8 percent vs -11.5 percent). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, production fell by 2.3 percent, swinging from the downwardly revised 0.2 percent increase in the prior period.
