Polish Current Account Swings to Deficit
Poland posted a current account gap of EUR 1,909 million in May of 2022, compared to a EUR 491 million surplus in the same month of the previous year and market estimates of a EUR 3,525 million shortfall. The goods account shifted to a deficit of EUR 1,222 million, compared with a surplus of EUR 653 million a year ago while the services surplus widened to EUR 2,494 million from EUR 2,006 million. At the same time, the primary income deficit rose to EUR 2,562 million from EUR 1,888 million and the secondary income shortfall went up to EUR 619 million from EUR 280 million.

Poland Posts Record Current Account Gap
Poland posted a current account deficit of EUR 3,924 million in April of 2022, the largest ever recorded, compared to a EUR 1,282 million surplus in the same month of the previous year and beating market expectations a EUR 2,299 million gap. The goods account swung to a EUR 2,466 million gap from a EUR 1,211 million surplus a year ago and the services surplus narrowed to EUR 2,236 million from EUR 2,302 million. At the same time, the primary income deficit rose to EUR 2,844 million from EUR 2,150 million while the secondary income shortfall widened to EUR 850 million from EUR 81 million.
